Recently, we were traveling on Air Asia for a short holiday. While browsing through the in-flight magazine, something caught my eyes.
I was not aware that Air Asia has Hot Wheels as part of its merchandises. For collectors who could not find some Hot Wheels in stores or online but taking a flight with Air Asia, you may want to check them out in your Air Asia flights while traveling 😉
Then, we saw this too-hard-to-resist deal for the Airport Plat Set at MYR55 (approx. USD13.64). On top of that, we only need to add MYR1 (approx. USD0.25) for a set of erasers with 4 color crayons worth of MYR10 (approx. USD2.48). So, we bought it.
The usual price for the Airport Play Set is MYR60.
Here is our box of Air Asia Airport Play Set. It is at 1:87 scale.
At the back of the box, it describes the product composition of the diecast with a mix of Alloy, Steel, ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) and PP (Polypropylene). This product is made in China.
All unboxed and now the contents are open for viewing.
The top of the plane is made of alloy with Air Asia livery.
The bottom of plane (including the wings) and wheels are made of ABS. Only the axle is made of steel.
Here is one of the Box Trucks. The truck cabin is made of alloy while the truck box is made of ABS with Air Asia livery.
From the front view, the white seats can be seen through the plastic windshield. It can also be seen that there is some poorly painted work on the bumper. The headlights and radiator grille are painted as well. From the rear view above, the door at the back of the truck cannot be opened. It would have been nice if it could be opened otherwise.
It is nice to see that we can at least pull the box up. Something fun to keep the imagination at play in the airport scene.
The bottom of the truck is made of PP. It is easy to bend and break. The wheels is made of ABS and the axle is made of steel.
Left side view of another type of Box Truck. The product material is same as above box truck with Air Asia livery.
Rear view of box truck but door cannot be opened.
Right side view of the box truck. The door lining can be seen here but the door cannot be opened as well. The box for this truck cannot be pulled up.
The bottom of truck, wheels and axle are made of same product materials as the earlier described box truck.
For the ladder truck, the truck cabin is also made of alloy while the ladder is made of ABS with Air Asia livery and slogan.
From the front view, the seats can be seen through the plastic windshield. The bumpers, headlights and radiator grille are painted.
The materials of the bottom of truck, wheels and axle are again the same as the earlier described box truck.
Here is the unassembled parts of the luggage box tow tractor.
And now the bottom of the unassembled parts of the luggage box tow tractor.
Add the three parts together and we now have the assembled luggage box tow tractor. There is more to do….
Finally, it is complete. The airport play set is now ready to be managed in the comfort of my own home. “Now everyone can fly”.
We have this airport eraser and crayon set as well with only MYR1 (USD0.25) promo price. The erasers can be pulled apart and joined together. Kids can have fun coloring with the four color crayons, stuck or unstuck to each of the four airport erasers. They can have fun with them any way they want it.
Overall, how does Air Asia score on this Airport Play Set? I would say for kids, it would be 4 to 5 stars out of 5. It is more of a play set for kids. For collectors, there may be comparison made to Hot Wheels product materials or any other better versions which will score better than the Airport Play Set.
However, we were happy to have this play set at this price and enjoy it as part of our collection now 🙂
Furthermore, our kiddo loves it with his imagination run wild like a pilot.
Do you have any score on your mind? We would love to hear from you!
